Our fourth “From 0 to 100” mission is dedicated to building, housing and living as key questions for the future. We seek answers and promote solutions that ensure a better quality of life, more cohesion and greater prosperity in a growing society.
Building the future, shaping life.
Switzerland is growing, and so are the questions of how we want to build, be housed and live in the future. This growth brings opportunities as well as challenges. It is a chance to rethink our living spaces and reorganise the way we live together.
With our fourth mission, we are looking for ideas on how we can build differently and live better in a growing Switzerland: sustainably, efficiently and with the aim of offering everyone more than just a roof over their heads. From small rural communities to suburbs and urban centres: how and where can we create forms of housing and living that promote community and secure open spaces while being ecologically and economically sustainable?
The mission asks how Switzerland wants to deal with population growth, and it highlights solutions made possible by new technologies, intelligent planning and innovative business models. It makes space for developing and promoting new ideas – for a better quality of life, more cohesion and greater prosperity in a growing society.

What is it about?
The mission 'Building. Housing. Living.' addresses one of Switzerland’s key questions for the future: how to deal with population growth. It seeks solutions that enable us to build and live in a growing Switzerland while strengthening quality of life, sustainability, and community.

Why does this matter to the Migros Pioneer Fund?
Because it is one of the defining challenges of our time. Switzerland is growing – that's a fact. We must ask ourselves how to provide everyone with more than just a roof over their heads. The answer will determine whether our society remains liveable, sustainable, and community-oriented in the future.

What exactly is the problem?
Switzerland’s population is increasing, while space, resources, and affordable housing are becoming scarce. This puts pressure on the environment, drives up costs, and creates social tension. The key question is how and where we can create living spaces that foster community, preserve open areas, and remain ecologically and economically sustainable.

What needs to happen for everyone to take action?
We need a constructive mindset and a creative approach to the issue. New technologies, intelligent planning, and innovative business models already exist – what is needed now is visibility and collaboration. Politics, business, civil society, and pioneers must come together to jointly develop and implement solutions.
